Gwen Ifill Did a Good Job

Posted by Kelsey G on Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at 9:21 am

On Tuesday, Scoopthis reported that Gwen Ifill, who had possible conflicts of interest, would be moderating the Palin/Biden debate which aired last night. Let me first say that we were absolutely right to question her motives and objectivity since her book, about Barack Obama was set to go on sale on January 20th, 2009 which is inauguration day. If Obama was in fact elected, Ifill stood to gain financially from increased sales of her book. Scoopthis continues to assert that Ifill should’ve stepped down from moderating the debate in light of her conflict of interest.

Well, Ifill didn’t listen to us and did the debate anyway. Thankfully, she did a decent job and as far as this blogger could tell, kept her conflicts of interest and bias out of the debate. Once again, we were right to "worry" but it appears that what we "worried about" was not realized.

Obama supporter will moderate Biden-Palin debate.

Posted by Carlos C. on Tuesday, September 30th, 2008 at 11:38 pm

PBS anchor, and Barack Obama supporter, Gwen Ifill will moderate Thursday’s Vice-Presidential debate between Joe Bide and Sarah Palin.

Of course, Ms. Ifill will be impartial. This is video of Ms. Ifill’s reaction after Sarah Palin’s convention speech.

Could you be any more lethargic, Ms. Ifill?

I bet this is a preview of your “impartiality” on Thursday, Ms. Ifill. Perhaps you were being impartial when you penned an article in Essence magazine about Barack Obama. I am not trying to be crass, but it is not like you have a book on Barack Obama coming out on January 20, 2009 either, right? I am sure that the outcome of this debate will not affect you financially, so I will do well to set my worries aside about your possible partiality.

There is nothing to worry about. Nothing at all.

Hat Tip: Michelle Malkin

UPDATE 1: Greta Van Susteren is reporting that the McCain campaign did not know about Ifill’s book.
