ST. PAUL (Reuters) - The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.
Bristol Palin, one of Alaska Gov. Palin’s five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the child and marry the father, the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
I wonder if Barack Obama will say that Bristol was punished with a baby?

It’s amazing to me that Karl Rove got them to bite on the fake Sarah Palin pregnancy to make the real pregnancy seem like “no big deal.”
Laugh my fat ass off! I love Karl Rove. He’s a pure political genius.
UPDATE 4: Todd Palin was arrested in 1986 for DUI. Mr. Palin said that he learned a lesson.

“I have said before and I will repeat again: People’s families are off limits,” Obama said. “And people’s children are especially off limits. This shouldn’t be part of politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin’s performance as a governor and or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics.”
I don’t think Obama’s campaign was directly connected to this. Daily Kos started all of the misinformation.
UPDATE 6: Michelle Malkin is reporting that the Kos Kids will not drop the issue of Bristol giving birth to Trig. These people never learn.

Very sad really. But they’ve got to find SOMETHING to throw at her to try and cut her voting base down. Thing is this will only increase it. think about it. Her teenage daughter is pregnant. How many other parents out there have to deal with the same situation. Fact is as long as her family isn’t like the manson family I’m ok with them being human. I don’t require perfection just honesty, dedication and intelligence.
