McCain to make VP choice in Ohio on August 29th?
Posted by Carlos C. on Monday, August 18th, 2008 at 3:28 pmHamilton County GOP Chairman, Alex M. Triantafilou, posted on his blog yesterday that John McCain is looking to have a “big” event with a “big” crowd in Ohio. Chairman Triantafilou writes:
Senator McCain is expected to host a rally on August 29 in Dayton and is looking for a BIG venue and for a BIG crowd. He’ll get it. This is not yet public. I guess I just made it so.
According to Marc Ambinder at The Atlantic.com, this line entry is now deleted. Did Chairman Triantafilou drop the ball?
AllahPundit at Hot Air is speculating that McCain could name Rob Portman or John Kasich as the Vice-Presidential pick. Or, McCain could just be announcing his VP choice in Ohio because it will be a swing state in 2008, just as it was in 2004.
Also, August 29 is John McCain’s birthday.
Hat Tips: The Atlantic and Hot Air
UPDATE 1: CNN’s Political Ticker is stating that McCain will also hold rallies in Michigan and Pennsylvania. Mitt Romney won Michigan during the primaries, so it’s safe to speculate that Romney’s name is in the VP mix.
UPDATE 2: McCain’s VP pick will be Pawlenty or Romney, and the choice will be revealed on August 29th, McCain’s birthday.

Romney would be the smartest pick.
