Faith Forum: Obama & McCain.

Hat Tips: Gateway Pundit, Hot Air, and Little Green Footballs all have open threads.

The “Faith Forum” is currently being broadcast on CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC.

The forum is hosted by Pastor Rick Warren.

Obama starts the first hour, then McCain will get the second hour.

(I will be updating this blog entry continuously.)

Barack Obama:

On Iraq - “Opposing the Iraq war was my hardest decision because Saddam Hussein was a bad person.”

On Abortion - Obama says he is “pro-choice” but anti-abortion. Obama says he is against late-term abortions, but his record shows otherwise. Gateway Pundit has an excellent entry on Obama’s gruesome abortion record. Also, Obama says that this question is above his pay grade!

On Marriage - “I believe marriage is between a man and a woman.” Obama stated that gay marriage is a states-rights issue. Obama does not support a gay marriage ban in the U.S. Constitution.

On Stem Cell Research - Obama says he supports it.

On Evil - Obama says that evil must be confronted everywhere, especially in Darfur and America’s inner cities. (What about evil in Iraq, Obama?)

Biggest Flip Flop - Welfare Reform.

On Supreme Court - Obama would not have nominated Thomas and Scalia. Obama has the nerve to basically say Clarence Thomas “did not have the experience” to get nominated!

“Clarence Thomas. I don’t think that he was a strong enough jurist or legal thinker at the time for that elevation, setting aside the fact that I disagree with his interpretations of a lot of the Constitution. I would not nominate Justice Scalia, although I don’t think there’s any doubt about his intellectual brilliance, because he and I just disagree…”

Warren asks, “And John Roberts?”

Obama answers, “That’s a tougher question.”

Obama voted against Roberts confirmation! Obama would never have nominated Roberts.

On His Advisers During His Presidency - Obama says his wife, his grandmother, and Ted Kennedy would be advisers. (I bet this will appear in an attack ad.)

On Wanting To Be President - Obama could not succinctly give an answer. Obama basically says that he wants to “change” the world by “building bridges”.

John McCain:

On His Advisers During His Presidency - General Patraeus, Black Civil Rights hero John Lewis, Ebay founder Meg Whitman, and any U.S. soldier that has been wounded in Iraq.

On General Patraeus - “General Patraeus brought America from defeat to victory in Iraq.”

On Meg Whitman - “Ms. Whitman went from a 5-person staff to helping employ 1,500,000 people.”

Check out the video below!

On His Captivity During The Vietnam War - “It took a lot of prayer to survive.”

Check out the video below to hear McCain’s story! (It’s a different video than the one above.)

On Babies Having Basic Human Rights - “Human rights begin at conception. I will be a pro-life President. My 25 years of public service highlights a pro-life voting record.”

On Marriage - “A union between 1 man and 1 woman.”

Biggest Flip Flop - Off-shore drilling. McCain says, “We must start off-shore drilling now. This is a national security issue. We must stop sending $700 billion to countries that do not like us.”

On Energy - “We must drill our own oil. We must also develop tide (as in ocean currents), hybrid cars, nuclear, wind, and solar technology.”

On Evil - Rick Warren asks: “Should we negotiate with evil or defeat it?”

McCain answers: “We should defeat it. I will hunt Bin Laden to the gates of hell! Al Qaeda puts suicide vests on women and blows them up! My friends, if that is not evil, then what is?”

On The War On Terror - “Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda have made Baghdad the central focus of the War On Terror, and General Patraeus is taking the fight to Al Qaeda!”

On Supreme Court - John McCain would not have nominated any of the liberal judges because “these are lifetime positions” and the Court needs “strict Constitutional judges”.

On The Meaning Of Who Is Rich - “Rich should not be defined by our money, but by our lives and our families. I want everyone to get rich! I do not believe in class warfare. I want to keep taxes low, increase tax revenue, and help small businesses through tax credits.”

McCain also did joke that making $5 million is rich. I bet the LEFT will focus on this and make it an attack ad.

On Health Care - “Tax refunds should be increased so adults can afford the health care of their choice for themselves and their families.”

On Georgia / Russia War: “Russia must respect Georgia’s territory.”

On Wanting To Be President: “I want to inspire a new generation of Americans and let them know that America’s best days are ahead. America wants hope. America wants optimism. America, it’s time to put our country first. I know not everyone will vote for me, but I will be the President of all Americans, and I will put my country first.”

Breitbart.com has a great article about the debate.

Macca has shellacked Osama in a big, big way indeed.

  2. Tess says:

Yes, McCain was awesome tonight. His answers were substantive and “to the point”, while Obama’s were vague…..never answering the questions.

I think alot of people saw the HUGE difference between the two….

I am sure we will be saying “President McCain” next January.

Obama was lackluster as usual. McCain when talking about national security, freedom, liberty, putting an end to wasteful taxation and spending and ending the demagougery and partisanship in Washington, and mending the brokenness of politics, and recounting his past and stories of faith just went to show he’s not only becoming what us conservatives want in a presidential candidate but also what this country needs as well.

Obama lied through his teeth on the abortion issue and when tougher questions were asked of him it almost felt as if he was in a tight space; claustrophobic and trapped. He’s never been asked tougher questions as what Warren gave him. And what I don’t get is he’s met with Chris Wallace from FOXNEWS and Major Garrett and now Warren but why will he not grow a pair of testicles and face O’Reily or Sean Hannity and sit down and be asked tough questions? Hillary actually grew a pair of balls to face off against Bill O’Reily? Yet Obama seems like he needs his mommy (Michelle) everytime he is picked on. He’s too much a sap, wet behind the ears, and a chicken to confront problems or people who’ll ask him to act, do, be, and think tough.

And the other interesting point I’d like to give McCain that Obama doesn’t seem to get is this. Obama I feel thought he was being interviewed by Warren, McCain on the other hand is a master of town hall debates and not only talked to Warren but the people as well. While Obama is articulate and intellectual, McCain is experienced, strong, and engaging. His jovial friendliness and approachable nature and personality is what people look for not only in their president but in a trusted neighbor, friend, and ally.

Bush had those same qualities about him when taking office as did Reagan and Bush Sr.

People want a leader but they also want a man who’ll respect them, the office, the Constitution, and the country.

And I got to say reading “The Case Against Barack Obama” if the man became president or is sworn is as president by all these pathetic morons in this country who buy into his bullshit, I will personally make it my vendetta to be as much of an asshole as they were to Bush. I’ll wear anti-Obama shirts, have anti-Obama bumper stickers on my car, say anti-Obama things, and just be an overall asshole till the man got booted out or impeached or left the White House.

  4. Ricky Minton says:

Obama was horrible. I know this. Ironically, I didn’t even watch it.

  5. Jeff says:

Kudos for Mccain. Obama clearly has very little moral footing the long pauses and stutters prove it.
